Welcome to Aber!

In Aber, a big community located in north Uganda, the number of orphans is high due to the war. Poverty and lack of a social structure are fertile soil for various criminal activities among young children.

These children need immediate attention if they are to be saved from drugs and crime. Girls are particularly vulnerable for prostitution.

The people of Aber want to start a vocational training centre where youth can learn skills in administration, finance and technical and educational fields.

In September 2007 the first trainings began, and currently 20 students are taking part in them that will prepare them for a succesful professional career.

The final objective is to teach 280 students. In this fashion these youths will be better prepared to enter the job market, and not fall prey to drugs or prostitution.

Our aim is giving these youth a totally free and high quality education, and the main objective of the project is to offer a vocational training centre that will cover their educational costs, as well as uniforms, transport, hot meals, drinks and rooms for all the students.

This centre will have the potential to really influence the quality of Uganda's future leaders and professionals.
